Loose or comfortable clothing is best, such as running shorts and tank tops. Therefore, if you have a knee that needs to be examined or taped, you can bring a pair of shorts. Similarly, a tank top is best if you have a shoulder injury.

Muscle & Joint Clinic treats each patient individually, customizing a specific treatment plan for that patient’s injury or pain. Many patients feel immediate relief following one appointment, while other may require multiple appointments for more chronic pain. In most cases, patients require multiple appointments in order to both alleviate pain and to retrain the muscles and joints to keep the pain from returning.

Muscle & Joint Clinic primarily treats adults, but does treat teenagers, particularly those with injuries related to involvement in high school sports, and children. Please call us at 415-488-5372, if you have specific questions.

Scar tissue usually forms as a result of injury. When caused by a small injury (e.g., poor posture, prolonged computer use, carrying children), scar tissue typically accumulates over years. For larger injuries (e.g., car accidents, falls), scar tissue accumulates more quickly. Scar tissue helps keep the body intact in the short term, but alters function and mobility over time. This causes pain, arthritis, and fatigue. Visit our page on scar tissue for more information.

Chiropractic is the leading alternative medicine that utilizes a non-invasive, conservative approach to healthcare. Chiropractors specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions by treating misalignments of the joints and dysfunction of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments). Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Furthermore, statistics show that chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare in the world. Visit our page on chiropractic for more information.

Physiotherapy is corrective lengthening and strengthening exercises to get rid of compensation and restore normal movement and function. This eliminates pain and ensures long-lasting results. Visit our page on physiotherapy for more information.

Therapeutic massage is any type of massage that helps to relieve pain, reduce stress or work on a specific challenge with your body – from a stiff knee to a tight back. Visit our page on therapeutic massage for more information.
